So there’s a lot going on. And there’s a lot that we can be stressed about I get it. This is a crazy world. Our country is feeling like it’s completely out of control our own state here is feeling like it’s a mess. And then our own lives, and just the normal issues that we’re dealing with in our personal relationships at work, maybe even in our health. It’s just a lot. (Anxiety? Read more here.)
But let me ask you a question. When has it ever not been a lot? Hasn’t the world always been like it’s going crazy? Hasn’t our country always been in some level of turmoil?
Hasn’t it always been stressful in relationships in work and what our mind and our body is going through?
Isn’t it always like that?
Of course it is.
So, when we start feeling and saying things like, “It just feels like everything is so much right now!”
I feel like we’re letting go of the reality that it’s always so much. And instead of focusing on what’s true and what’s constant…and what’s good and what’s eternal…
…we take our eyes and we focus on what feels like what’s swirling around us and the craziness.
So, I just want to encourage you today….
When you start feeling like it’s “so much”…and you even see the funny silly memes that are going on this weekend like. “It’s gonna be a full moon, and we’re setting our clock back, and it’s Halloween. What else could go wrong…!?”
When we have all of that going on…we lose sight of the reality that is always a hot mess…
…That this side of heaven, and God’s full redemption of our lives…and this earth, it’s always going to be a challenge. (Waiting is hard, more on that here.)
And so what do we do?
We constantly turn to the truth, capital T-R-U-T-H…Truth.
Psalm 34:15-18 says,
“The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil to cut off the memory of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help. The Lord hears and delivers them from all their troubles –Listen–
“The Lord is near the brokenhearted, and he saves the crushed in spirit.”
Are you brokenhearted?
Are you feeling like your spirit is crushed?
Turn to God.
Get on your knees.
Take a deep breath and pray.
Say, “God, I am too swallowed up by my own fears my own thoughts my own anxiety my own worries my own wondering if, if I vote this way, or if I vote that way or if he votes this way or she votes that way. I’m too consumed by all of that…I give it back to You. And no matter what happens, I. Trust. You.”
Trust him in the way our relationships are going. Trust him in the way your heart and your mind is moving. Trust him in the way our country, our state, our local communities are going. (More on trusting God here.)
Encourage others. Let’s be together and united speak out for truth Yes, be involved. Be strong, get your opinions out there, speak up. But trust God, don’t let it cause you worry. Don’t be anxious, trust God. He’s there for us. Amen?
Amen.
What helps you when you feel the worry rising? Was this post helpful? I’d love your comments below. Share this post and let’s encourage one another to keep our eyes on the Lord.
The video below is a message I gave in response to the question so many of us struggle with, “Why does God allow evil?” When my friend was killed in a tragic car accident on a missionary trip, I asked myself the same thing. God’s answer has never left me. I hope this message will be an encouragement to you as well.
Why do we have a natural sense that “things aren’t right?” “Why does God allow evil?” “Why is this all so hard sometimes?” Listen to this message…be encouraged. Have hope…
