Why Waiting on God is Part of the Victory – from the podcast, Joshua 5:2-6:27 || Ep. 4
“Waiting on God isn’t passive—it’s faith in action. Keep walking, keep trusting, and when the time is right, He’ll say, ‘Now!’—and the walls will fall.”
You ever been in a season where you just wanted to move forward—like, now? You’ve prayed. You’ve prepped. You’ve got your battle plan all laid out… and then God says, Wait.
Maybe you’re standing in front of a “Jericho” of your own—an obstacle that looks impenetrable. You’re ready to do something about it. But instead of handing you the battering ram, God hands you… silence. Marching. More waiting. No explanations.
Why the heck for?
Because God’s victories don’t come through human strength—they come through faith and obedience.
When God’s Strategy Feels Slow (and Strange)
In Joshua 5-6, Israel finally steps into the Promised Land. The enemy is terrified, the battle seems inevitable, and yet… God presses pause.
🔹 First, He commands the men to be circumcised (not exactly a battle-ready move, if you ask me).
🔹 Then, He sends them on a silent march around Jericho for six days.
🔹 Finally, He tells them to shout—but we never even find out what they shouted!
What kind of military strategy is this? It’s not. It’s a trust strategy.
Israel’s victory wasn’t about force—it was about faithful steps of obedience. God’s ways aren’t ours (Isaiah 55:8), and that means sometimes, before the breakthrough, He asks us to walk in faith when nothing seems to be happening.
Faith Before the Fall
Let’s be real—waiting is hard. Walking in circles, literally or figuratively, is frustrating. Maybe you’re praying for a prodigal child, for healing, for a new season in life… and all you feel is silence.
But what if the “marching” season isn’t wasted time? What if it’s preparing you for the moment God says, “Now, shout!”
Waiting on God isn’t passive—it’s faith in action. Israel didn’t stand still; they moved in obedience even when it seemed pointless. And when God said shout, their faith met His power—and the walls crumbled.
What This Means for You (Yes, You, the Busy, Weary One)
Listen, I know life is full. You don’t have time to sit around waiting for lightning bolts or flashing neon signs. You’re juggling work, home, kids, ministry, ALL. THE. THINGS.
But here’s what I want you to hear today: your faith-filled steps matter.
- That prayer you keep praying? It matters.
- That choice to obey, even when you don’t see results? It matters.
- That decision to trust instead of worry? It matters.
You don’t have to feel strong. You just have to keep walking. And when the time is right, when God says, Now!—that’s when the walls fall.
Keep Stepping—God’s Got This
I don’t know what battle you’re facing, but I do know this: God is faithful, and He finishes what He starts. The waiting isn’t wasted. The marching isn’t meaningless. The victory is already won—you’re just walking it out.
